| | Third Summer | | The Swanns | | 6/30/2008 1:00 PM | Eileen Swann, born Windleton, is the perfect wife for an up-and-coming entrepreneur as Erwin. With her good upbringing and excellent connections in the finer families of Windle, she is very helpful.

Erwin Swann is the big entrepreneur in the harbour, employing the fishermen at his Catfish Island and now also opening the Fish Market, where he sells the fish.
|
Packing the fish is hard work.
The Fish Market became a popular spot very fast, for the fresh tasty fish and for the pub in the corner. |

Note: I have been planning a fish market for a while. I started the Catfish Island business ahead, so that Erwin had a good stock of fish to begin with. The wares are flying of the shelves! Sims in Windle know that fish is GOOD FOR YOU. :D |
| | Third Spring | | Erwin Starts His Career | | 3/15/2008 6:58 PM |
When Erwin Swann graduated from university the second winter, he knew he was about to start a life with great achievments. With the money he had inherited he built himself a small but elegant mansion near the harbour in Windleport, on the newly prospected Pier Boulevard. From here he had a good view over the harbour, which he planned to make the source of a great fortune.

Swann House is built in a new, lighter style than the older houses of Windleport. Whitewashed parquet and white wooden panels is a foresign of a new era.
Erwin also needed a wife - and his eyes was set on the young and pretty Eileen Windleton, of Windleton Manor in Windlebridge. He knew her brothers from Windle College, and she was just what he needed: a bride from a good family and with good connectiona. The Windletons was not only an old family with reputation and titles - it was also a family of entrepreneurs, famous for starting the Windle Mine. |
 |
The courtship went well, and they got engaged. The wedding is planned to happen at Windleton Manor later in the spring. |
Erwin started his first business - the fishing enterprise on Catfish Island. He also plans a Fish Market, probably to be opened in the summer to come. |
| | Third Spring | | Catfish Island | | 3/15/2008 6:00 PM |
Erwin Swann started his first business on a small island just outside the harbour, known as Catfish Island. He hired a group of experienced fishermen and paid them to come fish for him every day.
The small island is torn by waves and wind, but the fishing is good.
Building notes: I create islands with Mootildas Lot Expander/Adjuster, which also has an option to move the lot. I moved this one out in the water and removed the road. Then I put pond water around and cut it off on all sides with the shrinking feature. Voilá, an island out in the sea with fishing. BTW, Mootilda wants more people to help with the testing of the newest Lot Expander, check this link.
The wave effect is Inge Jones excellent buyable beach wave portal.
The island is a business, I use Simwardrobe's controller for fishing to make the employees fish at work. |
| | Third Spring | | Harbour Shacks | | 3/12/2008 4:20 PM |
Windleport has two beach areas, one on the north and one on the south side. The north side is still undeveloped, the harbour is built on the south side. It is a simple medieval harbour, with piers and fishing shacks. The people living in this part of the town are not rich, they are fishermen and sailors.
Erwin Swann, a young trader and business man, has bought a fishing cliff outside the port, where he hired a number of fishermen and their wives to work for him to catch as much fish as possible. His goal is to open a fish market, as he wants to sell the fish in large quantities to the citizens of Windleport as well as to visitors to the city.
He also built himself a nice mansion, Swann House, which is the first house located on the Pier Boulevard. In the future we can expect more rich families to pick this address for their new mansions.
Building notes: The challenge here was to create fishing properties by the water, when sims can only fish in pond water and not in the actual sea. I have solved this with the help of the Lot Expander/Adjuster, creating lots with pond water that are "cut" to have pond water that merges with the surrounding sea. I have also used the pirate ship from the BV expansion to add "Old Harbour" feeling to the port. I wish there was more ships to pick from, not necessarily with a pirate attached, maybe a ship where sims actually could sleep and live? Also, if anyone knows of old ships made as hood decorations, please let me know! And I don't mean ship wrecks, but normal beautiful ships that can sail on the sim waves! Is that too much to ask for? ;)
