| | Third Summer | | Portraits Make Us Remember | | 7/22/2008 10:38 AM |
The Paynter House, a grey stone house in the typical style of Old Windle, was in mourning this summer, after the passing of Mrs Maureen Paynter. She was born Windleton and lived at Windle Manor as a girl, where she met her husband James Paynter when he came to the village to paint portraits of the Windleton family. He ended up staying in the village, buying this house and marrying Maureen.
Maureen reached her old age, but died earlier than expected from pneumonia. This is the portrait her husband painted of her when they were young and newly weds.
Before she passed, she could enjoy seeing her oldest sons, James and Joshua, returning from Windle College. Joshua got engaged to Edith Cooper, a girl from another part of Windle, and married her in Windlebridge Church.

His brother James also got engaged - to Miss Lavinia Ashton, the owner of the Clothing Atelier in Windleport.
 Another engagement. |
James is planning to move to Windleport as soon as possible to arrange the wedding and decide to buy a house or move in with Lavinia and her younger sister. He is pondering to follow his fathers professional footsteps and open a portrait studio in Windleport. Joshua and Edith are more interested in science, but are very found of Paynter House with all the portraits and paintings inherited with the house.

| | Third Spring | | What Will Happen To Nettie? | | 3/24/2008 5:18 PM |
The Paynter House, once filled with children's voices and visiting clients to old James Paynter, is nowadays a quiet place. The daughters married, the sons are all still at college. James Paynters is dead. Maureen Paynter lives here, and her great joy is the unofficial granddaughter, Nettie. The maid Janet is her mother, and the youngest son Jack, her father.
Nettie's childhood has been good, lots of work of course, but also play and learning to paint. Her grandmother, who also loves to paint, painted her portrait many many times.

Note: this is one of the paintings in the Easel Default Replacement set. |
Now she turned a teenager, and the future is coming closer. Soon the eldest son will come back from college, and start a family of his own. What place in life is awaiting Nettie? Will she be the most educated (and painted) servant girl ever in Windlebridge. Maureen worries about this..

When John Paynter first came to Windlebridge, he stayed with the Windletons to paint portraits of the family. Many of his works hang on the walls of the Manor. Later he married Maureen, one of the Windleton daughters, and moved to a house by the Village Square.
