 The Castle Prison is located on the bottom floor of the Prison Tower, and there are also a couple of cells in the very Tower. The warden, Nicholas Black, lives with his family on the third floor. The Bennett family also has an apartment in this part of the Castle. |

Nicholas Black, as the Warden of the Castle Prison, is responsible for one of the most famous and dangerous prisoners: Tobie One-Eye. Tobie is a ruthless pirate and criminal, caught last year and sentenced to be hanged. However, the sentence hasn't been carried out, and Tobie is incarcerated in the High Tower of the Castle prison, with a good view over the gallow down on the ground nearby.

Besides the hard work as a Warden, Nicholas joy in life was his young wife Anne, born Bell, daughter of the late Vicar in Windlebridge (and sister to the current Vicar, Horace Bell). She moved to him after the wedding, and they were eagerly waiting for their first child. Anne became pregnant and was looking forward to the same happiness as she already had seen happening to her cousins and neighbours in the Castle: Joanna Arrow, who had twins this spring, and Maureen Hunter, who had three lovely little babies.
Unfortunately, this was not meant to happen.

Will Nicholas get over this? Is the young maid Myrtle helping him to get over the death of Anne? The future will tell us.
Oh, and Ryan Cox, a thief, sentenced to 10 days, managed to run away from the prison - probably because Nicholas wasn't paying enough attention. Ryan is now a fugitive.

In the basement there are cells for the less important prisoners, and in the High Tower there are three cells for the very dangerous or otherwise important ones.
